Komatsu Forest has updated its full range of harvesters and forwarders, introducing a new generation of machines built around a common engine platform, revised drivelines and a reworked operator environment.
The launch covers a complete update of the harvester portfolio alongside a new generation of six-cylinder forwarders. Across both segments the changes centre on the AP Core engine, which the manufacturer says delivers higher power and torque while allowing machines to operate at lower engine speeds without losing productivity.
In the harvester range, all seven models have been upgraded. New crane designs are central to the development, with a more robust build that adds cast components and increases dimensions in key areas. The OEM says this improves durability in demanding operations while maintaining performance and precision.
The hydraulic system has been revised to reduce pressure losses, and a reworked hydrostatic transmission enables higher performance at lower engine speeds. Together with the engine changes, Komatsu says these improvements contribute to reduced fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions across a range of operating conditions.

“We have focused on delivering more performance where it matters, while also improving efficiency,” says Joakim Johansson, product manager for harvesters at Komatsu Forest. “The new generation gives operators more capability in demanding conditions, while enabling lower engine speeds and more fuel-efficient operation in everyday work.”
The new forwarders, the Komatsu 855, 875 and 895, share the same engine platform and updated transmission. The manufacturer says these changes enable higher transport speeds, improved traction and increased productivity in challenging terrain.
“We continue to develop our forwarders with a clear focus on productivity and usability,” says Daniel Grabbe, product manager for forwarders at Komatsu Forest. “The improvements in engine efficiency, driveline performance and serviceability all contribute to lower cost per cubic metre and a more reliable machine in daily operations.”
Further updates in the forwarder range include flexible load configurations, revised crane performance and design changes intended to simplify service and maintenance. A redesigned access system and revised component layout are also intended to improve operator safety and daily usability.
