Develon has launched the DX23E-7, an electric-powered mini-excavator with an enclosed cab that the South Korean manufacturer says offers the largest standard battery capacity in its class.
The DX23E-7 comes with a 32 kWh battery as standard, with an upgraded 40 kWh version also available under the DX23ZE-7 designation. The higher-capacity variant additionally offers quick coupler piping for attachment work.

All-day runtime and fast charging
The standard 32 kWh model delivers an indicative runtime of around eight hours depending on the application. Normal charging at 3 kW or 6 kW takes six to 10 hours to reach 100%, while fast charging at 15 kW brings the battery to full in approximately 1.5 hours.
The 40 kWh version extends working time to around 10 hours, with normal charging taking seven to 12 hours and fast charging reaching 80% in 2.5 hours.
“The DX23E-7 is a high-performing addition to the Develon range of electric machines,” says Stephane Dieu, excavators product manager for Europe at Develon. “It offers great advantages over the diesel counterpart due to less noise and no emissions, as compact equipment, such as mini-excavators, has a higher tendency to work in cities and residential areas, where it has proximity to other workers and the public.”

Performance gains over diesel equivalent
The electric model is based on Develon’s DX19-7 diesel excavator but delivers 5% higher lifting capacity along with improved work and travel output and enhanced stability. To accommodate the battery pack, the company removed the frame cross plate and increased the rear turning radius by 35 mm.
Maintenance requirements are also reduced compared with the diesel equivalent. Without an engine, the DX23E-7 requires only hydraulic-related servicing at 1,000-hour intervals.

Built for confined spaces
Retractable tracks allow the machine to pass through narrow passages, making it suited to indoor applications such as demolition and construction. Once in the work area, operators can expand the tracks for greater stability and lifting capacity.
All electrical systems and components are optimised for harsh environments, and the machine features low operational noise for urban and residential jobsites, including night-time work.

Telematics fitted as standard
The DX23E-7 comes with telematics as standard, enabling remote monitoring of machine health, location and productivity via an app or website. Features include theft tracking, unauthorised use prevention, maintenance scheduling and operator performance data.
Key specifications
The DX23E-7 has a rated electric motor power of 16 kW, an operating weight of 2,230 kg (2,296 kg for the 40 kWh version), a maximum digging depth of 2,340 mm, maximum digging reach at ground level of 3,940 mm and a maximum loading height of 2,440 mm.
