Cat launches new fuel-efficient models for a number of markets

Cat has launched new more fuel-efficient and durable wheeled excavators, which deliver the same power as predecessor models.

The M315D2 and M317D2, released in Africa, the Middle East (excluding Israel and Turkey), South America (excluding Brazil) and Asia (excluding Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan), build on the reputation of the M315 and M317 released elsewhere in the world.

Equipped with a Cat C4.4 Acert engine, the new vehicles meet China’s non-road Stage III emission standard, which is equivalent to the US EPA Tier 3/EU Stage IIIA standard.

At the same, the M315D2 and M317D2 both provide net power (ISO14396) of 108kW and are capable of reaching a top speed of 37kpm/h and 34km/h respectively.

A new fuel system in the engine sees the water-in-fuel switch featured in the primary fuel filter/water separator that indicates when draining is required – so reducing the risk of contamination in the fuel system.

A Cat spokeswoman said, “Cat wheeled excavators – versatile by nature and capable of working on prepared surfaces or off-road – can travel independently between job sites at high speeds (up to 37 km/h), reducing travel time transportation costs. The new models also serve as utility machines for moving material on-site.”

The new models have an operating mass of 13,500-15,200kg (M315D2) and 15,300-17,500kg (M317D2) with a maximum dig depth of 5,300mm and 6,090mm respectively.
