Delta-Q Technologies has added sodium-ion battery manufacturer Acculon Energy to its Charged by Delta-Q battery compatibility programme, bringing sodium-ion technology to the scheme for the first time.
The addition gives OEMs access to a pre-validated battery and charging solution for material handling, autonomous robotics, cold storage and other demanding applications. Delta-Q, a power management and charging specialist, said sodium-ion was emerging as a further option for OEMs weighing factors such as duty cycle, temperature, charging requirements and system integration, with potential advantages in cold-temperature operation, fast charging and durability.
“The introduction of Acculon’s sodium-ion technology into the Charged by Delta-Q ecosystem marks an important milestone for our compatibility program,” says Sarah MacKinnon, chief executive of Delta-Q Technologies. “Through our collaboration, we’re helping OEMs evaluate and deploy emerging battery chemistries with confidence while reducing the complexity and risk of integration.”
The Charged by Delta-Q programme is designed to help OEMs identify battery, battery management system (BMS) and charger combinations that have been validated for compatibility and performance, with the aim of speeding up battery-charging development by drawing on established industrial battery and charger expertise.
“Working with Delta-Q has reinforced the importance of validating the complete battery and charging system, not just the battery itself,” says Andrew Thomas, co-founder and president of Acculon Energy. “As sodium-ion adoption accelerates, OEMs need confidence that their batteries, charging systems, and vehicle platforms are working together to deliver reliable and predictable performance. Charged by Delta-Q provides an excellent framework for that collaboration.”
