Keestrack extends hybrid crusher models

Keestrack is extending its range of hybrid crushing units, with the launch of a low-cost machine.

Equipped with a directly-driven 350 ton per hour track, the R5e hybrid impact crusher joins the company’s fully hybrid H4 cone crusher and B4e jaw crusher range.

The track-mounted series now comprise three models; ranging from the compact 30 ton R3 designed for construction sites, to the top of the range flagship model, the R6e that when fully-equipped weighs 60 tons.

The Keestrack R5 is a mid-range series of models with a 42-ton basic weight and a maximum 50 tons with an overband magnet and double-deck final screen, including an oversized material recycler. When introduced more than three years ago the mobility and production rate of the diesel-hydraulic crusher was virtually unrivalled for its performance class – now, following a series of upgrades, Keestrack presents the R5e, a diesel-electric version of its 350 ton/h all-round model.

Similar to the larger R6e unit, the new model has an efficient 5,100kg rotor driven directly via the Volvo-produced, EU Stage IV-compliant, 345kW, six-cylinder diesel engine. Practical tests have demonstrated a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 45 % compared to diesel-hydraulic models, mainly due to the more even rotational speed of the high-torque Volvo diesel engine (maximum 2,380Nm at 1,200rpm). The vehicle’s operating hydraulics power the lifting cylinders on the chassis and conveyor belts, the track drive, the vibrating discharge chute and double-deck primary screen as well as the compact double-deck post-screen module with stockpile conveyor.

A 160-KVa generator now supplies the power to all other conveyor systems – including the

5m³ vibrating feeder – and the new Keestrack Neodym overbelt magnets (option). On the basis of its anticipated high mobility, the Keestrack R5e does not offer plug-in network operation, but can drive subsequently connected screens or stockpile conveyors via the 63A supply.
