Linak has expanded its IC actuator portfolio so that engineers can integrate linear motion into existing automation systems without adding external controllers, gateways, custom wiring or workarounds to make an actuator fit their architecture.
Engineers can choose the actuator or lifting column that suits their application and connect it directly to their automation environment through a range of industrial interfaces, including IO-Link, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, CANopen, CAN SAE J1939, Modbus RTU and the Linak I/O interface. The approach is intended to integrate linear motion into existing PLC systems without additional hardware.
The controller and ready-to-use functions are built into the actuator, giving engineers access to preprogrammed movement logic such as parallel operation and run-to-position, along with position feedback and diagnostics, regardless of the interface chosen.
According to Linak, the result is less programming and integration effort and faster development, allowing engineers to spend less time making components work together and more time designing and optimising their machines.
Each interface is tested and validated in major PLC environments to support predictable integration and reliable communication. The portfolio launched globally on 22 October 2026.
“We support our customers’ mechatronic approach by delivering one ready-to-integrate device with the controller, interface, and intelligent movement functions already built in. This reduces programming and integration effort, speeds up machine development and gives automation engineers the freedom to choose the actuator and interface that best fit their application,” says Melanie Kuhn, business development manager at Linak A/S.
