HMI Systems, a supplier of operator interface solutions for transportation and equipment applications, has introduced the 750MDI Media Display Interface, a rugged, daylight-readable touchscreen designed to give equipment operators clear, dependable access to critical machine information in demanding environments.
The 7-inch IPS touchscreen combines high-resolution graphics and wide viewing angles with CAN connectivity and embedded computing power, giving original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) a flexible platform for presenting machine information and controls in a modern format. It was released via Wesgarde, a distributor of electromechanical and electronic power components.
Built for demanding environments
The 750MDI features a 1024 x 600 resolution IPS display with 950 cd/m² sunlight-visible brightness, and a capacitive touchscreen intended to provide an intuitive user experience. Its wide viewing angle is designed to help operators clearly read information from multiple positions around a piece of equipment.
Built-in quad-core processing supports responsive, graphics-rich interfaces. HMI Systems’ free CANcreate software utilities allow OEMs to develop and deploy custom display graphics for their applications, and custom bezel options are available to help manufacturers match the display to their equipment design and brand identity.
CAN connectivity supports communication with vehicle and machine control systems, while USB connectivity, a real-time clock and an internal temperature sensor add flexibility for application development and system monitoring.
For use in harsh conditions, the unit carries IP65 protection against dust and water, supports 12 and 24-volt nominal systems through a 7-32VDC input range, and operates in temperatures from -20°C to 70°C. Its power input design is optimised for low electromagnetic interference.
A compact, flexible interface
According to HMI Systems, the 750MDI combines display visibility, responsive processing, flexible connectivity and rugged construction in a single compact interface solution, and is intended for OEMs developing customised, graphics-rich operator environments for demanding industrial and mobile equipment applications.
HMI Systems describes itself as an electronics design and engineering firm specialising in custom operator interface, control and display solutions for transportation, industrial and equipment applications, developing CAN-based products, custom hardware and software, and design utilities intended to help customers create application-specific solutions. Its capabilities span electronic design, mechanical packaging, assembly and rapid prototyping.
