Terex Cranes has announced an extension to its popular boom booster kit for the Demag CC 3800-1. The newest version of the kit extends the reach of the crawler crane to a maximum system length of 183m.

Terex has introduced up to nine structural 12m sections including two adapters and the new configurations and lengths were the result of removing lighter boom sections close to the head section, as well as adding 3.5m-wide boom booster sections right after the foot section.

In total, the boom booster kit can now have a total length of up to 108m and in order to get the long boom configurations off the ground, the Superlift mast length extends to 42m with an additional 2.5m section also available.

The main boom stiffness of the Demag CC 3800-1 has increased as a result of the upgraded kit, leading to 30% higher lift capacity, and comes with the Demag fall protection system as standard. An optional Superlift Split Tray and Flex Frame are also available.

A Terex Cranes spokesperson said, “When both systems work together the amount of time required for re-arranging counterweights between erection of the crane and working with the crane drops substantially.

“That reduces working hours for personnel and eliminates the need for an assist crane for re-stacking. Furthermore, the optional Flex Frame solution allows flexible setting of the superlift counterweight in a radius from 13m to 21m with full counterweight on the tray.
