Liebherr launches snow-ready wheel loaders

Liebherr has launched new compact wheel loaders designed for use in winter’s snow and ice conditions.

The L514 and L518 models can achieve a top speed of 40km/h with the optional emission-compliant engine, and are highly maneuverable thanks to a Z-unit bar linkage that improves versatility and steering in harsh conditions. As a result, the general-purpose machines are being launched as cheaper alternatives to conventional snow-clearing machines.

A Liebherr spokesman said, “With their proven stereo steering, a combination of articulated steering and a steered rear axle, Liebherr Stereoloaders are reliable winter service partners. Their maneuverability is particularly useful if snow drifts are a hindrance to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Thanks to the stereo steering, even inner courtyards, narrow parking areas or narrow alleyways in residential areas can be easily and reliably cleared of snow and ice by machine operators.”

In the axles, automatic self-locking differentials provide a high level of traction on slippery and treacherous surfaces, while the use of a snow chain delivers stable driving characteristics. Additionally, a steered rear axle enables the articulation angle of the machine to be reduced from the typical 40? to 30?.

A new emission Stage IV/Tier 4f-compliant engine as an option provides the top speed of 40km/h and enables municipalities and service providers to deliver speedy winter services over long distances.
