Caterpillar is launching the Cat 319 hydraulic excavator at ConExpo 2026, slotting into the compact radius lineup between the 315 and 325 models.
Built on the 317 Next Generation platform, the 319 is designed for the 19 – 20t compact radius segment and is focused on transportation, lifting, safety and versatility requirements. The machine is built around a 2.8m undercarriage, with a 2.2m track gauge, and remains within a maximum transport width of 3.0m.
The wider undercarriage enables the 319 to handle the TRS17 rotation work tool attachment, a variable angle boom or blade while staying within transport width limits. The design also delivers up to a 7% increase in lifting capacity, with the option to work with a 1m³ general duty bucket. The 319 is powered by the Cat C3.6 engine, producing 99kW (133hp), with selectable Smart, Eco and Power modes to match engine and hydraulic output to working conditions.
Optional safety technologies include a 360-degree camera system, Cat Detect for personnel detection around the machine, and multiple track-shoe options for varying ground conditions.

“Its performance, stability and productivity are a powerful combination for construction, utility work, road maintenance and land clearing jobs,” says Brian Stellbrink, senior market professional at Caterpillar, “while bringing all the benefits and attractions of the Next Generation platform to the CR line-up.”
“That added stability, enhanced by the 2.2m track gauge, also allows for up to a 7% boost to lifting capacity, including the option to work with a 1m³ general duty bucket. Meanwhile, the compact design and short swing radius focus not just on versatility but safety too,” Stellbrink adds.
“Worksite efficiency and productivity is hugely influenced by operator confidence. Confidence to operate in tight spaces, confident handling of heavy loads, confident visibility, confidence in power – all these aspects are addressed in the 319, helping enhance safety, precision and efficiency across the jobsite.”
Key specifications for the 319 include a maximum digging depth of 6,550mm and maximum reach at ground line of 9,190mm. European operating weight is 19,700kg, with the North American specification at 20,000kg.
