Hyster addresses recycling industry challenges

Hyster is helping the collection and recycling industry to both reduce costs and maximize efficiency with its range of electric material handling equipment machines.

Recent research by the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) has revealed that collection and recycling in Europe increased by almost 1 million tonnes of paper in the five years leading upto 2016.

“Recycling businesses are no longer restricted to only using tough ICE trucks,” says David Reeve, Industry Manager for Hyster Europe. “Hyster electric trucks are tough enough for most recycling operations, but as with any application, the choice depends on how the trucks will be used.”

The company’s Cool Truck option addresses the problems of engine overheating and clogged up radiators, as well as ventilation issues of indoor environments and the heavy-duty banding wire that are commonly associated with ICE trucks in recycling applications.

“The Cool Truck is designed to enhance efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenditure specifically in the difficult environments of paper and recycling plants. While electric trucks can have an acquisition price of up to 20% more than ICE trucks, the reduced operating costs delivered means that the investment can be recovered over a contract period,” Reeve added.
