Kubota has updated its compact excavator range with two new models, the KX016-5 and KX019-5, aimed at the 1–2 tonne class of the European market.
Both models are fitted with auxiliary hydraulic circuits that Kubota says allow them to operate a wider range of hydraulic attachments across multiple applications. For the first time, the KX016-5 is available with proportional AUX1 and AUX2 auxiliary hydraulic circuits, giving operators fingertip control of hydraulic attachments.
The KX019-5 can be specified with an optional high-flow hydraulic package delivering up to 45l/min, allowing it to power higher-demand attachments such as mulchers and rotary tillers. Kubota says the optional high-flow specification gives the KX019-5 one of the most capable auxiliary hydraulic systems in the 1–2 tonne compact excavator class.
Both models have a redesigned operator’s cab, which Kubota says brings levels of comfort, ergonomics and functionality more typically associated with larger excavators into the 1–2 tonne class. A more spacious interior, larger glazed areas and a revised cab layout are intended to improve all-round visibility and reduce operator fatigue, while reduced in-cab noise levels aim to enhance comfort during extended periods.
The cab is built around a 7in colour display providing access to machine information and operating functions. Combined with a jog dial, keypad, USB charging port and integrated mobile phone holder, the interface allows operators to reach machine settings. Auxiliary hydraulic flow rates can be adjusted via the display, and proportional auxiliary controls are integrated into the joystick.
Automatic idle control is designed to reduce fuel consumption and lower engine noise during pauses in operation. Electronic engine speed pre-selection and automatic travel speed shifting are intended to provide smooth machine operation across varying jobsite conditions.
Safety features include an intelligent seatbelt monitoring system with audible and visual warnings, which keeps hydraulic functions disabled until the seatbelt is fastened, and a pilot control lock lever that isolates the hydraulic controls when the operator enters or leaves the machine.
For transport and servicing, integrated lashing points on the upper structure provide secure attachment points for loading, while a wide-opening side engine cover offers access to routine service points. An integrated toolbox includes dedicated grease gun storage.
The 1–2 tonne class is the largest segment of the European compact excavator market. Kubota says the new models combine compact dimensions, advanced technology and greater versatility to meet the needs of operators and contractors across Europe.
