Hyundai Construction Equipment has been shortlisted for a coveted prize in Belgium for its European headquarters.

The Foreign Investment Trophy is awarded to the most appreciated investment projects from foreign firms in the Flemish region of the country as judged by the public, and Hyundai’s new building is one of the five nominations.

The multi-functional complex was inaugurated in October last year and includes a three-story office with a surface area of 5,400m2 (17,7162ft), a 13,000m2 (42,6512ft) warehouse, a training center, an event hall and a showroom.

Senior Hyundai management teams from Korea flew in see the building officially opened. “Our choice of Flanders is a clear signal to the market: ‘We’re here and we’re here to stay’,” said Alain Worp, managing director of Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe. “For me, this is only the beginning of our successful path to the future.”

Hyundai has been active in the Flanders region since 1995, with its first European distribution center for construction equipment located in Geel. When the site was considered too small, management moved the site to nearby Tessenderlo in 2014; the new HQ is located nearby in this region of the country.
