Twin Disc brings remote-controlled clutches to market

Twin Disc has announced the launch of a pair of remote-controlled clutches. The RC211 and RC311 require minimal maintenance and are ideal for difficult-to-service applications.

With a brand-new design, the heavy-duty disconnect clutches are suitable for the construction, mining, snow removal, forestry, agriculture and recycling industries.

Hydraulically-actuated, the self-adjusting dry clutches utilize 220-300psi of engagement pressure. The main bearings are oil-lubricated on both clutches to ensure they have a long operating life and an optional advanced control system can be used for soft-starting high-inertia loads.

While the RC211 has two organic friction plates, the RC311 has three, while sintered iron plates to increase torque and horsepower capacity are optional for both models.

The maximum input power and torque rating of the RC211 is 247hp (184kW)/909 lb-ft (1232Nm); and the RC311 is 371hp (277kW)/1620 lb-ft (2196Nm).

A Twin Disc spokesperson said, “Like all Twin Disc PTOs (power take-off), the RC211 and 311 are built to last. Their bearings, shafts and other elements are engineered with liberal safety factors to maximize life under extreme operating conditions.”
