Advanced Lift-Truck Technology International scoops 2011 FLTA Annual Award for Excellence

iVT International is delighted to announce that its specialist title Advanced Lift Truck Technology International has received the Fork Lift Truck Association’s prestigious Design Achievement Award for 2011.

The coveted ‘Archie’ – a solid bronze statuette of Archimedes – was presented at a special industry function held on 12th February in Birmingham, UK. Previous recipients of the Design Achievement Award include Narrow Aisle, Combilift, Linde Material Handling, Jungheinrich and Continental Tyre Group.

“The award acknowledges innovation within the materials handling industry by rewarding those companies and individuals who think ‘outside the box’,” said David Ellison, Chief Executive of the FLTA. “It recognises those few who have made a significant contribution to promoting the ongoing improvement of the forklift truck. Advanced Lift-truck Technology has a clear role to play in the innovative design of forklift trucks. It has helped to turn some design concepts of forklift trucks upside down and inside out.

“The 2010 edition looked at replacing the traditional mast with a side-mounted one, or even telescopic pillars. There are retractable forks, sideways rolling wheels, and wheels that turn laterally through 360°, plus alternative fuel and drive solutions, innovative hydraulics and braking systems, chain treatments and even revolutionary springs.

“Some of the ideas may never come to fruition – but others are in production already. iVT International’s achievement is to let the rest of us know, through their magazine, what is going on. Through this work you help keep our industry alive and moving forward. The award is much deserved.”

iVT’s special forklift truck edition has been published annually since 1993 and is highly regarded throughout the industry. The 2011 edition will be published this Spring; the 2010 edition can be downloaded from
